Mijente is excited to announce our 2nd round of La Vida Local, an initiative to help incubate Sin el Estado projects and work within the Mijente network.

In late February of 2020, we piloted La Vida Local right before the coronavirus pandemic hit and had to quickly pivot to meet the needs of our gente. We had the incredible opportunity to support multiple projects that rose to the occasion to fill in gaps in our communities when the State failed to respond to the needs of our gente, during a burgeoning global health crisis.

Nearly two years into the pandemic, we know that building Latinx power and self-determining our futures is critical. La Vida Local allowed us to move resources to groups that were moving food, healthcare, and medical supplies to our people. Read about past projects we’ve supported here.

In 2022, we’re looking to continue to uplift and support projects focused on building the autonomy and self-governance of Latinx communities across the U.S. and Puerto Rico; to grow the network of Latinx people who believe in our ability to create alternatives to capitalism, harmful institutions and ways of being in relationship to each other.
